Downhill Extremo Socma
Walter designed and opened the Downhill Extremo Socma route.
Perolniyoc Tours was born in Socma, a small Andean community in the Sacred Valley. These mountains are not simply a destination for us. They are home.
Walter Ttica is more than a guide. He is a local host, storyteller and mountain guide who grew up surrounded by the landscapes and traditions of Socma. He was born in Socma, completed his primary education there and learned the traditions and customs of his parents and grandparents. He first learned the language of his community and began speaking Spanish at around the age of 15.
When it was time to attend secondary school, Walter had to leave Socma each day. For five years, he walked approximately 20 kilometers daily to Urubamba so he could study and return home. After finishing his studies, he went to Lima to prepare himself and gain new knowledge. When he could choose between staying away or returning to his land, he chose to return: he came back to Socma.
He walked to learn. He returned to serve. He worked to transform. And now he opens his paths to the world.DISCOVER SOCMA
Walter returned to work, contribute and turn into reality ideas he had imagined for a long time. He understood that transforming a community does not happen overnight: it often begins with a conversation, an idea or a process of coordination. Then come the procedures, meetings, coordination and work. And when a project became difficult, he did not give up: he kept managing, insisting and working hard until he saw it completed.
Walter designed and opened the Downhill Extremo Socma route.
Walter discovered, designed and opened the tourist route to Apu Qory Sonqo.
He did not stop at designing it. He opened it with his own hands, following the terrain and working meter by meter along the route he had designed.
Walter has worked to protect the customs, traditions, flowers and wildlife of his territory, and participated in strengthening forest-fire prevention brigades together with Valle Sagrado Verde.
Socma is not simply a starting point for a hike. It is a living Andean community surrounded by waterfalls, mountains, ancient paths and ancestral places.
Some places are visited. Others are felt. Socma is one of them.
Travelers who have explored the area with Perolniyoc Tours highlight the hospitality, local knowledge and connection with the landscape, culture and people who bring Socma to life.
